Sophie Turner is finally breaking her silence since her high-profile divorce from singer Joe Jonas. Gracing the cover of British Vogue this month, the Game of Thrones star is opening up about the challenges and heartache that followed their public split.
Turner, who shares two daughters—Willa (3.5 years old) and Delphine (22 months old)—with Jonas, describes the divorce as the “worst few days” of her life. Reflecting on the difficult timing, she revealed, “I mean, those were the worst days of my life. I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States, and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out…”
Joan is a series based on the life of real-life jewel thief Joan Hannigton. It tracks her evolution from a minor criminal to a mastermind in the 1980s.
The media frenzy was tough, with many stories painting Turner as a party girl and questioning her parenting. She confessed, “It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother—mum guilt is so real! I just keep having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum, and you’ve never been a partier.’”
Despite presenting a united front when announcing their separation, the aftermath was turbulent. Turner even sued Jonas, accusing him of “wrongful retention” of their daughters. Adding to the drama, she revealed her discomfort with the constant attention on the Jonas brothers and their wives. “There was a lot of attention on the three brothers and the wives. Well, we were always called the wives, and I hated that,” she said, adding that it wasn’t Jonas’s fault but rather the public perception that bothered her.
Turner’s unexpected friendship with pop star Taylor Swift also made headlines. Swift, who dated Jonas in the past, became a pillar of support for Turner. “Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,” Turner shared. When Turner found herself without a place to stay in New York, Swift stepped in, offering her a home and a safe space. “She really has a heart of gold,” Turner said gratefully.

Joe Jonas filed for divorce in September last year, stating in court documents that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” The couple first sparked dating rumours in 2016 and surprised everyone with a Las Vegas wedding two years later.
