In the heart of Bollywood’s bustling landscape, where every frame tells a story, Prime Video’s grand unveiling on the 19th of March marked a milestone in the digital entertainment sphere. As the curtains rose, the stage was set for an extravaganza, with luminaries from Indian cinema and international shores converging to celebrate a cinematic feast of epic proportions.

Under the spotlight, Karan Johar, the maestro of modern Bollywood, commanded the stage with his trademark charisma, guiding the audience through a compelling journey into Prime Video’s vast entertainment universe. But it was Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President of Prime Video (APAC), whose words echoed with anticipation as he posed the quintessential question that lingered on every viewer’s mind: “What do I watch?”

As it unfolded, the answer was nothing short of a cinematic symphony, a harmonious blend of 69 shows and films that promised to captivate audiences across continents. From pulse-pounding thrillers to heartwarming dramas, Prime Video’s repertoire embraced diversity in its truest form, offering something for every palate.

At the forefront of this extravaganza was ‘Fallout,’ a series shrouded in mystery and intrigue, brought to life by the visionary duo of Jonathan Nolan and Ella Purnell. As glimpses of the iconic video game series came to life on screen, anticipation reached a crescendo, hinting at an immersive experience like never before.

But the spotlight didn’t falter, shifting seamlessly to the Indian contingent, where homegrown talent illuminated the stage with their brilliance. 

This exciting announcement had 27 original Indian series including the much anticipated Indian edition ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. A spy action-thriller set in the 90’s. ‘Gulkand Tales’ ‘A unique and visually delightful satire set in the fictional land of Gulkanda,’ starring Pankaj Tripathi, Kunal Kemmu, and Patralekhaa. ‘Matka King’ is set in the 60s about a new gambling game, starring Vijay Varma and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Nagaraj Manjule.

Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Daldal’ where Rita Ferreira, Mumbai’s new DCP investigates a serial killer on the loose, directed by Amrit Raj Gupta.

Another interesting upcoming documentary show is ‘In Transit’ exploring ‘the lives of trans and non-binary individuals navigating love, identity, and the boundaries of gender in a uniquely Indian way,’ produced by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, and Directed by Ayesha Sood.

Tamannaah Bhatia, Diana Penty, and Jaaved Jaaferi starring ‘Daring Partners’ follow two best friends on their journey of starting a business in alcohol. Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra.

Another hotly anticipated show is ‘Call Me Bae’ starring the effervescent Ananya Panday in the lead who plays a downsized heiress called ‘Bae’ who hustles her way across the newsrooms of Mumbai ‘finding beaus, behens, and her better self.’ The show also stars comedian Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Mini Mathur and more.

A show on Indian influencers in Los Angeles chasing fame starring Alanna Panday, Alaviaa Jaaferi, Alfia Jafry and more called ‘The Tribe’. Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Aneesha Baig.

Another show on India’s viral influencer Uorfi Javed called ‘Follow Karlo Yaar’.

Some more shows in the pipeline include ‘Dil Dosti Dilemma’, ‘Bandwaale’, ‘Ziddi Girls’, ‘Waack Girls’, ‘Ma Kasum’ and more.

The films are where more of the star power lies with eight Amazon films including Sara Ali Khan’s upcoming thriller drama ‘Ae Watan, Mere Watan’ directed by Kannan Iyer and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra.

A film inspired by the journey of a budding filmmaker called ‘Supermen of Malegaon’ starring Adarsh Gourav and directed by Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Farhan Akhtar.

Cheekati Lo (Telugu) film produced by Suresh Babu, Uppu Kappu Rambu (Telugu) which is a satirical comedy starring Suhas Pagolu and Keerthy Suresh. 

Abhishek Bachchan and Nora Fatehi starring in ‘Be Happy’ follow the journey of a single father and his daughter as they aspire to perform in the country’s biggest reality dance show.

Boman Irani’s directorial debut is called ‘The Mehta Boys’ starring himself, Avinash Tiwary, and Shreya Chaudhary.

Chhorii 2 starring Nushrratt Bharuccha and Soha Ali Khan produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, and Jack Davis.

Anil Kapoor’s ‘Subedar’ is an action drama about an army man who struggles with civilian life.

Kantara- A Legend Chapter 1 (Kannada) starring Rishab Shetty. 

The epic comedy ‘Housefull’ series by Sajid Nadiadwala has another instalment coming up ‘Housefull 5’ starring Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.

Baaghi 4, the action series is coming back with Tiger Shroff, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

‘Shoojit Sircar’s Next’ is an emotional and entertaining film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Johnny Lever.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu (Telugu) starring Pawan Kalyan, Nidhi Agarwal, and Bobby Deol. Kanguva (Tamil) starring Suriya, Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu and others.

Chandu Champion starring Kartik Aaryan and Directed by Kabir Khan.

Vaa Vaathiyaar (Tamil) starring Karthi, Sathyaraj, Raj Kiran, Kirthi Shetty, and others.

Shraddha Kapoor’ and Rajkummar Rao’s superhit film ‘Stree’ gets another instalment in the form of ‘Stree 2’, the film will be released in theatres on 30th August 2024. 

‘Sanki’ starring Ahan Shetty and Pooja Hegde is a film about justice and suspense.

‘Ikkis’ is the biopic of the legendary Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal PVC, the most decorated hero of the 1971 war. It will star Agastya Nanda, Dharmendra, and Jaideep Ahlawat.

‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ is a love story starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Dharmendra, and Dimple Kapadia.

‘Ashwatthama- The Saga Continues’ starring Shahid Kapoor ‘delves into the legend of the immortal warrior Ashwatthama from the Mahabharata, believed to walk among us even today.’

‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ starring Swan Kalyan (Telugu), ‘Thammudu’ starring Nithiin (Telugu), ‘Game Changer’ (Telugu) starring Ramcharan and Kiara Advani, ‘Family Star’ starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrinal Thakur.

The next instalment in the cop-action film series is ‘Singham Again’ starring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor.

‘Oh Bheem Bush’ (Telugu) starring Sree Vishnu, Priyadarshi, and Rahul Ramakrishna. ‘Ghaati’ (Telugu) starring Anushka Shetty. ‘Women of My Billions’ produced by  Apoorva Bakshi and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s Purple Pebble Pictures.

‘Bad News’ will star Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri and Ammy Virk in a comedy-drama produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra and Anand Tiwari.

‘Yudhra’ starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.

‘Ground Zero’ starring Emraan Hashmi, ‘Madgaon Express’ is Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut featuring Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi and others. 

‘Agni’ starring Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, Saiyami Kher and others.

One of the most anticipated spy movies ‘Don 3’ starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani and directed by Farhan Akhtar will come on Prime after its theatrical release.
