Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), hit its stride on day three with a star-studded lineup that had fashion aficionados buzzing. From Kriti Sanon to Shanaya Kapoor, Bollywood’s leading ladies took centre stage and captivated audiences with their runway prowess.
Shanaya Kapoor known for her effortless blend of traditional elegance and contemporary flair looked stunning as she stole the spotlight as she walked for Anamika Khanna’s AK-OK at Lakme Fashion Week. The collection was a fusion of unfiltered silhouettes and intricate details, showcasing Anamika’s signature style.
Sporting a unique ensemble that blurred the lines between a shirt and kurta, paired with statement boots, Shanaya epitomized bohemian chic. Embroidered motifs added depth to the look, while her stacked chunky bangles, layers of gold bling around her neck and studded boots added a boho-chic twist. Her makeup was also on-point with voluminous curls and smoky makeup.
This wasn’t Shanaya’s first foray into the world of high fashion. She has previously owned the runway in Arpita Mehta’s dazzling lemon-yellow saree and Manish Malhotra’s Diffuse collection walking alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi, proving her effortless versatility as a muse for both traditional and contemporary designers.
Anamika Khanna’s SS ’24 collection, presented in collaboration with Ajio Luxe, drew inspiration from the nomadic spirit of Orissa’s Bonda Tribe. The designs, grounded in denim and adorned with bold colours and intricate embroideries, paid homage to India’s rich cultural heritage.
Speaking about her collection, Anamika Khanna emphasised the importance of preserving India’s diverse tribal identities. “India has thousands of native tribes, each with a unique identity represented in their clothing and way of life,” she said.
As Shanaya Kapoor graced the runway with Anamika Khanna’s creation in a white embroidered jacket paired with black boots—the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design was evident, creating a fashion moment to remember.
Beyond her role as a muse, Shanaya Kapoor is poised to make her mark in the world of cinema. With her acting debut in Mohanlal’s pan-India film Vrushabha on the horizon along with anticipated projects like Bedhadak under the Dharma Productions banner, Shanaya’s star power continues to rise both on and off the runway.
