Lakmé Fashion Week 2024 was THE place to be, with our favourite Bollywood favourites strutting their stuff and slaying the fashion game. Day 5 was a whirlwind of glamour, with each celeb bringing their A-game and adding a pop of pizzazz to the runway.
Kicking off the day was none other than the queen of hearts, Shehnaaz Gill, who brought her signature charm to the ramp for Diksha Khanna. Diksha’s collection, inspired by urban chic and monastery mystique, featured fine handloom cottons and androgynous silhouettes. It was a fusion of rugged denim meets ancient archways, sprinkled with modern magic. The collection whispered tales of distant mountains, while dexterous detailing and rugged denim exuded the city’s relentless rhythm.
Sonal Chauhan took centre stage, captivating hearts with Sejal Kamdar’s sea-inspired collection. With vibrant colours like Peach Fuzz, Cool Matcha, and Midnight Plum, and intricate patterns inspired by Ajrakh motifs, the collection evoked the mesmerizing beauty of the ocean depths. The array of mesmerising silhouettes ranged from elegantly draped tunics to structured corsets, each garment infused with profound depth and captivating complexity.
The stunning Diana Penty exuded elegance and charm for Charu & Vasundhara. Their dreamy florals and intricate designs transformed the runway into a whimsical garden party, where every petal had a story to tell. Adorned with floral flourishes, the designs were a poetic dance ‘between architectural elegance and the enchanting beauty of blooming flowers’, embodying femininity in its ever-changing form—’a delicate fusion of symmetry and flowing floral motifs’.
Aditi Rao Hydari graced the ramp for Nirmooha, channelling elegance and sophistication. Her presence added a touch of grace to the collection, enhancing its allure and sophistication. The collection, titled “Ekatra/ एकत्र,” examined the ‘underlying principles of individuality, incorporating various components that worked together harmoniously’ to create a collective impact. ‘Drawing inspiration from interconnected roots of trees and abstract patterns lying in the nature’, the collection showcased attractive hues like Peach Fuzz, Cool Matcha, and Midnight Plum.
Madhuri Dixit Nene followed, radiating pure charm in Ranna Gill’s “Urban Prairie” showcase. This fusion of timeless elegance and modern sophistication showcased contemporary style intertwined with the untamed spirit of the prairie, creating a mesmerizing tapestry of fashion. Step into the realm of Urban Prairie, where contemporary style harmonizes with the untamed spirit of nature, creating a mesmerising tapestry where echoes of historic splendours harmonise with urban silhouettes.
But wait, the party wasn’t over! Aditya Roy Kapur and Janhvi Kapoor made hearts flutter as they sashayed down the runway for KALKI. Their chemistry perfectly complemented KALKI’s “INARA” collection—a dreamy ode to cherry blossoms and summer vibes, meticulously crafted with 3D geometric and floral motifs. The collection was a tribute to elegance, sophistication, and ‘the timeless beauty of cherry blossoms, ushering in the essence of spring and the vibrancy of summer’.
And finally, the grand finale starring none other than the fabulous Ananya Panday left us all breathless with her killer style. Closing the show for the House of Lakmé Grand Finale was none other than couturier Rahul Mishra, and Ananya walked for the finale. Rahul Mishra’s collection, heavily inspired by his daughter and the story “The Fox and the Star”, celebrated nature’s beauty. With meticulous craftsmanship and organic forms, the collection redefined sustainable fashion, capturing the essence of the earth’s raw beauty transformed into wearable art.
From urban cool to timeless elegance, Lakmé Fashion Week 2024 had it all. With our Bollywood faves bringing their A-game and the designers serving up some serious slaying, it was a fashion fiesta we won’t soon forget!
